We are an roleplaying FC looking for friends both experienced and rookie RPers; writing competent and compelling stories is our goal. The same way we make investments IC is the same way we want to make investments in our members. We focus on lore-flexible narratives ranging from a variety of themes from lighthearted to dark; immature to mature.

Event Expectations
Adventures can range in size and form, and everyone does them a little differently! That's okay, we're here to help and openly accept help. DMs and CoDMs are here on their own time to run things for everyone, while we can't achieve frequency all the time, help us, help you! Events are ran in sessions ranging from 2-3 hours long, so you can make plans and prepare around it. Events typically take place around EST evenings and done tentatively according to host or member availability.Communication is the best tool we have when organizing anything, so if you feel left out that your actions lack impact, let us know! Chances are that events won't be perfect, but we'll keep trying until we get there. If you'd like to anonymously leave suggestions feel free to create a ticket.
Dice
We embrace a culture of ROLEplaying over ROLLplaying. Rolls are typically reserved for a few things, and will be done when prompted to by a DM. We like to keep it short, sweet, and simple here with simple D20s. Just use /dice 20 or /random 20 to do so.What if my character is proficient or horrible with a certain skill/task? Notify the DM and they may judge whether or not a roll is necessary, and they may even enact Advantage/Disadvantaged rolls. DMs don't know everything about your characters, help us learn about them!

Event Types
Tavern
Casual RP ran at the Tipsy Teavern or Speak Easy biweekly. Open to the public where both FC members and guests can interact.
One-Shot
Single session events that should have a resolution by the end of it. Themes can range in variety to casual, or act as a beneficiary to the core plots.
Mission
A string of sessions to tell a story with an unfixed roster. Ranging anywhere between 2-6 sessions for drop-in/drop-out RP based on sessions. These act as low commitment campaigns.
Campaign
Campaigns! Long form narratives ranging from 4-10 sessions long with a fixed roster. If you sign up for these, you're expected to attend all session. We understand life happens at times, but the best experience happens when all members are present. These tend to be higher budget with lots of planning from the writing team, PLEASE treat the time they put into this with respect.

Welcome to Ruby Seas! We are happy to have you as part of our community. Though we are generally quite lenient, we have a few ground rules we would like everyone to follow. Only serious or repeated breaches of these rules will warrant punishment-- most of the time you will just get a bop on the head.While we can be forgiving for most, any infractions with malicious intent are unacceptable.
Free Company Rules1) Be Respectful of OthersSome of us can be prone to a bit of teasing from time to time, but please take care to be respectful of something if it is hurtful. Accidents will inevitably happen, but we need to be sure to be careful of such things. This includes any witch-hunting.
Blatant and conscious Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia, Sexism, and any similar discrimination voids our leniency and will not be tolerated.2) Keep Politics out of Public SpacesIt's fine in a brief mention if it's relevant, but try not to openly debate political or otherwise sensitive topics in our server.
It's still fine to send your condolences for someone in a bad situation, just keep it all mild.3) Keep Drama in DmsNobody appreciates drama or fighting between others. Take stuff like that to dms instead of trying to make it everyone's problem.
If you think a situation with another member is actively harmful to you or the server, you may want to take it up with a moderator instead. And if you are doing so, please be delicate with personal details.4) Be Mindful of Adult ContentThis is an 18+ community, and such adult topics will likely come up as a result. Nonetheless, try and keep anything too spicy or graphic in separate channels designated for such (NSFW Channels.) NSFW channels are only unlocked for Team Member status FC members.
Role-playing Rules1) Avoid NSFW Roleplay in Public SpacesAs with the last rule, try and keep NSFW roleplay out of our public spaces. The company estate, unlocked private rooms, and any space we are currently using to RP would count for this.2) Use Proper DistinguishingGenerally speaking, session leaders and tavern staff should use a /lookingtomeld status and roleplayers should be using a role-playing status. This helps us distinguish who is doing what during a session. Members will be considered IC when using the /roleplaying tag.
Chat rules will vary between DMs, but take this rule as a whole with a grain of salt. It's not something you will get punished for-- it's just an etiquette thing.3) Don't Purposefully Derail
Missions and stories tend to have a lot of room for player input and to allow people to steer the outcome. But griefing the session-- especially in high stakes moments-- is harmful to both dms and other players.4) No Godmodding or Metagaming
Godmodding or being a Mary Sue isn't too much fun. While we enjoy our victories we like to drag our characters through dirt and grime before we get there! Metagaming or knowing things ICly that have yet to be known. Clairvoyance and omniscience can lessen the impact of some events, make sure you cooperate with others and confirm before learning information you shouldn't know yet!

Humble Beginnings
Linking the Eastern sphere of influence to the West, Ruby Sea Exports (RSE) is a company with a successful lineage in Othard and Hingashi. With roots in the Ruby Sea, RSE was initially started by the Blue Kojin who gradually became a cornerstone for trade throughout the East. The company has relatively clean hands, best not to tangle with the law; however, they air on the morally grey. Recent events have shattered the barriers that segmented Hydaelyn at large, and so RSE set its sights on breaching the Eorzean market.A tale as old as time, the buying and selling of goods, import and export, to bring whatever your heart's content to your doorstep, a trading company. Expanding its operations from a small cottage in the Lavender Beds, a medium house in the Empyreum, and returning to the Lavender Beds in a mansion, the company has been successful in its efforts to grow the company. Built to survive on its own in the Western sphere, the affluence of the Eorzean branch has grown quite fearsome, a name known far and wide in the East is now growing more prominent in the West.

Company feats, history, and IC information gathered will be recorded over time in the Discord. Some of these include the FC's Airship fleet, ceruleum refineries, information network, or even connections rooted in Ishgard and Gridania.
Company Roles
Enforcers
Leaning away from unsteady mercenary work, work on a salary. With pirates lurking in the far reaches of the ocean and the threat hiding behind the clouds, there's always a need for armed personnel to accompany various shipments to meet any assailants with might or magic. Enforcers are common enough within the company where the need for travel is abundant and armed protection for caravans through land, sea, or sky.

Merchants
Alternatively, the RSE sphere of influence is continually growing. Adding new resources and merchants into the fold while striking deals and contracts for many. Some looking to search for a regular supplier for their business, and others seeking one-time gigs to expedite precious merchandise. Managing these deals isn't easy at all as it requires a clear head and a silver tongue.
Tradesmen
What good is a deal if the merchandise is not up to par? Trust is ever so scarce in this cutthroat industry, and a careful eye is necessary to appraise goods accurately. Treasures come in all shapes and sizes, best to verify the validity of an item before purchase. Trades varying from engineering, sciences, smithing, goldsmithing, and more are all welcome.
Company RP Feats
Airship Fleet
Company expansion into the Ishgardian market opened up an opportunity to strike a deal with the Skysteel manufactory to craft a fleet of two dozen airships for RSE. A few airships have been created for the sole purpose of travel and transportation.

Ceruleum | Vertical Monopoly
Liberating, a rogue Garlean cell in Eorzea allowed for the grounds and machinery necessary to acquire crude ceruleum. A trade was struck to obtain refineries that create the fuel necessary to maintain the airship fleet or magitek devices.

Information Network
Roots to the underworld run deep. While they've kept their hands clean, everything about a person's past can be discovered in a matter of days. Shinobi and agents lie at the end of an evergrowing web.

Contract with Private Military Company | Kingfisher Co.
Expansion beyond Western waters has called upon a need for a large mobilization of experienced mercenaries. Enough to rival larger organizations like the Brass Blades as they take to patrol trade routes key to RSE interests. Scratch a paper trail as well to wipe their hands clean of any "questionable," work.

Ishgardian Connections
Noble birth can only have so much influence in the Ishgardian sphere. Now with the Gates of Judgement open, Gil speaks louder than words. Ties into the ceruleum industry, vaunted Ishgardian wine by the De León, and the finest Ishgardian steel of the Ludano family means their influence runs deep through the Pillars.

Gridanian Connections
Having found RSE headquarters in the Lavender Beds, they've come to be a quiet and fierce force of nature within the community. Contacts between the Adders, as well as the Wood Wailers, had allowed the company to do some work and privatized contracts to develop company interests. Working closely with the law after assisting with the investigation of a missing Coeurl Platoon has closened the relations with the company's neighbors.
